OK...I admit. I was once a fast food manager. In fact I did it for quite some time, and yes folks I worked for Wendy's. 7 years of my life I poured Frosty's, four-corner pressed burgers, and scooped chili. Ahhhhh those are days long behind me.
The point of my sharing that was a set up to do what it is I do best- BITCH. What in the hell happened to the principals that Wendy's was founded on? Were they buried with Dave Thomas? For those of you that don't know what I am speaking about, Dave Thomas actually wrote a few books in which he expressed that Wendy's was based on simplicity. Keeping a menu that was simple. What, with the past few years we have seen Frescata sandwhiches, vanilla frostys, frosty floats, and now the frosty wanna be McFlurry and BREAKFAST.
WTF? This doesn't even begin to touch their new marketing ploys involving Zack Braff and the Violent Femmes. Teenagers are stereotypically put off by Wendy's. Wanna know why? THE FOOD IS TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE ON AN ALLOWANCE! Why are they gonna cough up $15.00 or more on two combos when they can go to McDonald's and get a bag of grease laden food for half the price? Come on now folks. Teenagers need money for $300 cell phones, their bills, and overpriced jeans-not a burger and fries.
But I digress. I am sure that Dave Thomas is haunting the corporate yes men that made these desicions for his life's work. As far as Wendy's using the Violent Femmes song "Blister in the Sun"....everyone has bills to pay, and I am sure regardless of how out of context it's lyrics would seem Gordan Gano would nod to that.
