There are a lot of tea products that we can consume, from the pure tea product to the tea products that added with some supplement like herbal and flower. But all of them are made from the same plant Camellia sinensis that undergoes different process to produce green tea, oolong tea, and black tea.

Green Tea

Green tea is made from tea leaves that are not undergone any fermentation process. This kind of tea has a green color like dried leaves, and when you brew it you will have liquid with yellowish green. It’s lighter in flavour and has grassy taste. Green tea has been consumed in China, Japan, Middle East, and other Asian countries, but now it consumed through worldwide. Green tea reportedly contains the highest concentration of powerful antioxidants called polyphenols.

 

Black Tea

Black tea is made from tea leave that undergone fully fermentation process. The color of the tea leaves is black, and if you brew it you will have extract liquid tea with reddish brown color. This is the most popular tea. West countries usually consume this tea. Most of polyphenols in the black tea are oxidized become substance that believed act as antioxidant too.

 

Oolong Tea

Oolong tea is made from tea leaves that undergone partially fermentation process. The characteristic of this tea is between green tea and black tea. You will have orange color when you brew them.

 

Which kind of tea that suitable for me?

As beginner who firstly consumes tea, I recommended that you try black tea or oolong tea, but you can try green tea too. If you are not like the taste, you can add milk or honey. Studies of humans and animals show that the antioxidants in black, oolong tea, and green teas are highly beneficial to our health, such as prevent body from cancer, diabetes, Heart and Stroke, anti Inflammatory, and weight loss.
