Gaines Adams died today in his hometown of Greenwood S.C. from an apparent enlarged heart.  This is sad news for the NFL, Bears fans, Tampa Bay fans, and also for Clemson fans.  I am saddened for his death.  He was only 26 years old.  He died this morning a Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood which supposedly has some of the best cardiologists in the nation.  Drugs are not suspected in the cause of death however an autopsy will be performed but results may not be available for 2 months.  

       In other news Brett Farve hooked up with Sydney Rice to blow Dallas out of the stadium 34-3.   So far there have not been any good football games on this weekend unless you are in to lopsided games.  New Orleans won big over the Cardinals yesterday and the Colts won big over Baltimore mainly due to 2 touchdowns  in the last 2 minutes of the first half.   As of right now San Diego is leading the Jets 7-3 in the 3rd Quarter which may be the best game of the whole weekend.

Where to Start?
One of the best ways to start in publishing poetry if you have never done this is research. So here are a few resources to use.

Library: This is a good start because , you can easily get a hold of literary publications. The main one I would reccomend would be Writer's Digest. Writer's Digest has plenty of useful information for writer's especially if your looking to get published. Writer's Digest also has contests for everything from short stories to poetry ,so this would be a good place to start.

Internet: The Internet is a good tool for finding ,publishers and their information. You can also look for websites that allow you to publish your work online. One of the best sites for this would be lulu.com as I personally know other writers that have used and recommended this site. Also numerous poetry and literary journals have websites many of which accept ,poetry on a regular basis.

Local Publications: Your local newspaper ,is a good source for poetry publishing and often times they allow submissions for free. If there isn't a column or space for local writer's in the way of poetry. You can allows call your local paper and suggest the idea to the editor there.

What to do Next?

Once you have a good idea of what's available in the way of getting poetry published you can decided to contact various publications and publishers either by mail or via the internet.

What do I Get?

This is probably the first question I asked myself when I was looking to get my poetry published, usually one of two things.

Writing Credits: Writing Credits are usually offered by poetry publications or literary journals. This means you get the aknowlege credit for submitting your work to them. Depending on the publication this can also mean money if you win a contest. Writing credits are good if your a beginnning writer ,because it offers you the chance to build yourself a rep as a writer.

Royalties: This usually happens if your work is submitted, to a publisher for your work. The best publisher for this would be a Traditional publisher, because they usually assume the cost of marketing, and sales of your work.
Publishers: This is typically important for poets ,if they have just started. While most publishers do print and publish poetry ,many still rely on novels as the basis for their bread and butter. The best way to select a publisher is to do a bit of homework. Last but not least avoid Vanity press ,at all costs because they assume all costs on the author. Next to a Traditional press the best option would be any publisher that specializes in Chapbooks ,which are poetry compilations.

The growth and prosperity of country mainly depends on its population trends. Depending on its size and type of population, respective governments have to make amendments in their policy and other issues. The United Kingdom is not an exception to these phenomena as it is one of the most urbanized nations on this planet. And the present global warming threats are making life worse for all the developed and developing nations around the world to reduce the pollution, use of electricity, other unnatural resources, etc. to provide necessary basic amenities to their respective citizens. And moreover the world is getting smaller with its boundaries virtually erased in the name of globalization. Migration is taking place on large extent legally and illegally. This further increases the rate of population and the responsibility of host country to provide the migrated population with all the basic amenities. According to Census 2001, the United Kingdom had a total population of 58,789,194, further increased to 59.5 million in 2003, 18% increase from 50.3 million in 1950 and 3.2% increase from 1993 to 2003. Such trends in population growth compel the authorities to change the policies and type of services and schemes for the welfare and development of society. Population Trends in United Kingdom: Future Predictions The Office of National Statistics hinted that England is prepared to be the Europe’s most crowded place and population of UK increasing at the rate of almost 33% in the next 50 years. Based on this predictions, it is presumed that population density will increase from 1,010 persons per square mile to 1,349 persons per square mile. The United Kingdom’s population is increasing at brisk pace and it is estimated to be touching over 83 million by the end of 2081 which is almost 45% increase from 58 million in the year 2001. According to estimates released by the Office of National Statistics, United Kingdom is to be occupied with 60.5 million during 2006-07 and will reach some 78 million during 2051-56 after taking into account the births, deaths, rate of immigration into the country. The national statistics department has put forward that the total fertility will stand at 1.89% and predicts that it will continue at this rate till 2051-56. The age wise growth of population in the year 2006 was like 10.7 million (0-14 years), 11.8 million (15-29 years), 13.3 million (30-44 years), 11.7 million (45-59 years), 8.2 million (60-74) and some 4.6 million in the category of 75 years & over. It is estimated that this figures will not change in the next 40 years or so with the exception in the age group of above 45 years. The United Kingdom will be populated with more number of aged people than in any country in Europe. The aged population is predicted to grow at 16.2% in 2056 as compared to present growth rate of 13.6% in 2006 among the age group of 60-74 years. The average age is expected to rise from 39.4 years in 2003 to 43.6 years in 2031 and further predictions suggest that this will rise to 45 years in the near future. Based on these assumptions, it is believed that life expectancy will rise from 76.2 years in 2003 to 81 years in 2031 and 80.6 years in 2003 to 84.9 years in 2031 for men and women respectively. According to 2001 Census, United Kingdom accounted for 4.6 million ethnics’ population which contributed 7.9% of the total UK population. And the largest ethnic group was none other than Indian with 1.05 million. Most of the ethnic populations were Asians led by Indians followed by Pakistan (0.7m), Bangladesh (0.2m) and other Asian (0.2m). The United Kingdom is also home to black with Caribbean Blacks leading the numbers with 0.5 million and others contributing around 0.6 million. With such large diverse population, the United Kingdom is bound to face many a millions of problem revolving around the development of communities and to prepare the policies and amend the constitution, so that no citizen of United Kingdom is isolated from the mainstream society. The policy makers, therefore, will have to take necessary precautions while preparing for the future, keeping in view the growth and type of population in United Kingdom. Future Challenges to the UK Government The Office for National Statistics has clearly indicated a spur in the population growth. The reasons for this could be attributed to access to better health conditions and better medical aid by population. Immigration is other major reason for the increase in overall UK population and UK ethnic groups. These factors will affect the UK government economically as the government will have to provide houses, medical facilities, roads, education, employment, etc. Some of them are explained below. • Increasing in demand for house which may lead to souring house prices, virtually compelling the government to provide housing/mortgage loans to facilitate its citizen with housing facility. • Providing education is the topmost priority of any country and with increasing population it becomes more and more difficult to maintain the standards. To the ever increasing population, new schools have to be started through more tax revenue. • Road congestion will be the greatest threat as it would require space to construct roads and with already so much development, it would be difficult to increase the space which may even result in high number of road fatalities. • Tax benefits for the ageing population through pension and health care spending. Due to increase in life expectancy, the governments have to provide pension, health and other facilities to the old population. Immigrants are considered for certain economic benefits. Under this circumstance, the government will have to alter their policies and tax benefits keeping in view, the development of the society in general and country at large. • The increase in population of older people will lead to fewer workers, less tax payers increasing the dependency ratio. The Royal Commission of Long Term Care predicted that the expense on long term care may increase from £11 billion in 1995 to £20 billion in 2020 and £45 million in 2050. • The government will have to put in additional effort to provide employment to the citizens as well as to the ever increasing immigrants. The rate of unemployment may increase if necessary measures are not taken to provide better jobs. • The volume of ethnic population in United Kingdom gives rise to many racial discrimination issues. There have been many issues concerned with this subject at workplace, schools, politics, etc. Government will have to take necessary precautionary measures and make viable policy to tackle the present issues and will have to empower the ethnic with certain constitutional amendment. • The government will also have to provide financial assistance to Persons with Disability and other reservations so that they can lead good and better life. • And most important factor, security. With so many terror strikes taking place in the vicinity, it will be of greater concern than anything for government to provide security to its population. Conclusion The United Kingdom is estimated to be most crowded in Europe as per the estimates released from the Office for National Statistics. Jonathon Porritt, leading green advisor to Gordon Brown, warned that Britain must implement necessary and viable measures and try out every option to reduce its population up to 30 million in order to build a sustainable society. The government will have to make long term fiscal policies to make necessary arrangements for the payment of pensions and other financial aids to its citizen, mainly the ageing population. The major challenge will be to provide employment to growing population. It can be assumed that there may be huge spur in the unemployment rate with so many immigrants coming to United Kingdom. Most of them are unskilled and under educated which adds to the injury. Therefore it is necessary for the United Kingdom to prepare itself for the future complications that may arise by making necessary policies in regard to pension, employment, financial aids, reservations, racial discrimination, education, hospitals, etc. United Kingdom must make every effort to provide better facilities to each and every citizen and take precautionary measures to reduce the rate of population

In the competitive world of business, any organization has to evolve different strategies to strive hard to achieve its goal and be there in the competition. Organizations identify, plan and manufacture products and provide services, so that it doesn’t face stiff competition from its rivals but makes its rivals compete with it. In order to make this possible, company need to market its products and services through the best mediums available and make the consumer conscious about the product. Marketing is an essential and important tool of any successful business. Scott (2006) states that companies without marketing mindset are at a disadvantage in today’s business world that are product centric rather than customer centered. The overall concept of Blue Ocean Strategy is innovation. It is understood from the book that companies should identify, plan a strategy and create a business of which no competition exists. Kim and Renee (2005) divide the competitive business world into two segments of Red Ocean and Blue Ocean. It is further explained that ‘Red Ocean’ is the business world full of competition where the existing organizations compete with each other to acquire its share in the market whereas ‘Blue Ocean’ is the unidentified market area. The Blue Ocean is the space wherein the business is new in the market and has no threat of competition instead it has to create competition. The giants of particular commodity or product or services, who are termed as leader, find it difficult to survive in the competitive world of business without marketing. American Marketing Association has defined marketing as the performance of the business activities that direct the flow of goods and services from producer to consumer or user. Marketing assists in identifying specific markets for products and services, guiding the development of products, packages, and services, etc. (Kumar) In blue ocean strategy this concept has a new meaning and a new method to implement in the firms. Blue ocean marketing concept proposes a method based on the segmented target group and the product development and marketing is based on the conduct of this group. The concept is good but cannot be fitted with all firms and their marketing procedures as it lack competition, which is vital in the marketing concept. (Kim and Renee, 2005) Marketing Strategy David (2007) states that creating a marketing strategy is only the first step towards the attainment of goal and after the strategy has been built; its solidarity has to be maintained to attract external stakeholders. He criticizes the marketing directors who are using B2B model while the others in the market have adopted real and valuable marketing strategies. The first principle of blue ocean strategy is to reconstruct market boundaries to create blue oceans so that it doesn’t face any level of competitions and existence of competitors is zero. In order to create Blue Ocean, it becomes necessary to identify the threats and difficulties that make Red Ocean such a difficult world to live in. The red ocean companies are trapped in this area due to following reasons, 1) they define their industry similar to which exists in the market and try to provide the best other than others, 2) they try to and follow the strategic accepted methods, models, principles of developed and successful companies and strive to stand out in their strategic group, 3) as they produce similar products and provide service similar to that of the other industry, they focus the same consumer, which further makes the competition stiff and harder, 4) they define the scope of products and services similarly, 5) they accept the rules and regulations of the specific industry as they are governed by the governing body and functions accordingly and 6) some seasonal products produced by the companies will face stiff competition from its rivals as all the companies will enter the market at same time. (Kim and Renee, 2005) Market for some product is such wide that no single provider or manufacturer can cater the demand of the entire volume of consumer in this broad global market place. In that specific scenario, blue ocean strategy cannot be fit with the regular marketing strategies. Marketing can produce blue ocean strategy but cannot fit it with all products. Hence, blue ocean strategy can be implemented in the marketing of some products. Marketing cannot easily generate blue ocean strategy as the chance for it is so less and there may be a good chance of finding a competitor with ‘me too’ product. Innovation The key element of blue ocean strategy is value innovation, a combination of differentiation and low cost that sets a product line or service apart from its competitors. Innovation is the buzz word in each and every industry and organization. The business world and political world has realized the importance of word ‘innovation’ which brings the new products or services in line by the enterprises or government agencies. Blue Ocean can be created in two ways, one be launching entirely new business different from others, market for which does not exist and eventually no market means no competitors and second, by creating it within the red ocean by expanding the boundaries of existing industry as in mobile industry. When cell phones first arrived, it was only the medium of voice based service, but SMS came into foray, them MMS, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, and many more services are being added to this little piece to increase its sales via comprehensive marketing. (www.12manage.com) Lauren Mathys states that Blue Ocean Strategy is about creating new direction for a company that may already be one of the very good ones but wishes to be the best. (Dag, Swimming the Blue Ocean) The essence of marketing concept is that customer and not the pro¬duct shall be the centre or the heart of the entire business system. In Blue Ocean strategy this is true – customer is targeted first and the product or service is introduced for this segmented group of customer It em¬phasizes customer-oriented marketing process. But in the expansion process of the targeted group, there will be so many unexpected barriers due to lack of existing marketing data and experience. This may sometimes poses as a big treat for the development and this can be eliminated with traditional marketing strategies along with modern strategies. All business operations revolve around customer satisfaction and service. Marketing plans, policies and programmes are formulated to serve efficiently customer de¬mand. Marketing research and marketing information service is expected to provide adequate, accurate and latest information regarding target markets and current consumer wants as well as dealer wants to the marketing managers and on the basis of such realistic information, they will take sound decision on any marketing problem. The entire marketing mix will be formulated on the basis of marketing research. Thus, marketing strategy is a plan of action for obtaining the marketing objectives. The marketing objectives gave a picture where it wants to go and the marketing strategy provides the path to reach there. In other words, marketing strategy is a specific plan for allocating marketing resources to reach marketing objectives. Hence, which strategy is adopted depends on the objectives of the firm and marketing recourses, which it has. Sometimes it is easy to conquer the competition with the advantage but sometime, it is easy to find a new market place. Hence, there is no readymade strategies are available and it can be not be created from vacuum. Find a product or service and adopt the apt method to market it is the real strategy behind the success of a firm. From the business point of view, strategy may be defined as the schemes whereby a firm's resources and advantages are managed in order to surprise and surpass competitors or to exploit opportunities. In this very concept the very concepts in the Blue ocean strategy has a very little meaning in the overall marketing strategy formulation process. (Kim and Renee, 2005) Benefits of Marketing Concepts Benefits of new market-oriented business approach are: (1) Consumer needs, wants and desires receive top consideration in all business activities. (2) Greater attention is given to the product planning and development so that the merchandising can become more effective. (3) Demand side of the equation of exchange is honored more and supp¬ly is adjusted to changing demand. Hence, more emphasis is given to research and innovation. (4) Marketing system based on the marketing concept assures integrated view of business operations and indicates in¬terdependence of different departments of a business organization. (5) Interests of the enterprise and society can be harmonized as profit through service is emphasized (6) Marketing research is now an integral part of marketing process and it is a managerial tool in decision-making in the field of marketing. Marketing Strategies The traditional marketing strategies in the Red Ocean include studying the products and its competition in relation to price and consumer demand. This category follows three generic strategies i.e. focus or differentiation or low cost. In this demarked area, the companies use well developed tool to refine their existing marketing strategy by spending considerable amounts of money trying to understand their customers’ needs and wants through formal and informal market research. In contrast, blue ocean strategy concentrates on relatively new concept which was originated by two professors at INSEAD, Paris in 2004. The strategy challenges but does not replace existing thinking, creating own market by defining it first and later dominating it like eBay, doesn’t require advanced technology and focuses on non-customers. (Andy Young) The establishment of a firm presupposes that a market exists for its products or services. As profit motive is the prime mover of all business ac¬tions, firms tend to relate markets and marketing conditions to products in terms of profitability. Competition characterizes marketing conditions and different product brands emerged to attract customers. Hence to maximize profits, a firm develops several marketing alternatives. These alternatives, came to be called marketing strategies. According to Philip Kotler (2005) "market¬ing strategy is the essential approach that the firm will use to attain its objectives and it consists of wide decisions on target markets, market¬ing positioning and mix and marketing expenditures levels.” In practice, a company's marketing strategy is the posture, which it takes in a competitive market. For its success, management has to shape its own policies regarding the various controllable aspects of marketing such as product distribution, promotion and pricing. A combination of such policies on the controllable aspects of marketing is the overall marketing strategy. But in blue ocean strategy this competition is nil and all the marketing strategies formulated must be addressed the needs of customer rather than criticizing the competitor product or service. While implementing the marketing strategy, the management must try to serve selected markets effectively so as to minimize competition. This type of defensive technique may not always succeed. The aggressive competitors by developing new products may break the established cus¬tomer preferences. In Blue ocean strategy, there is no competitor as the segmentation is already done and there exists a group of segmented customers who need to be addressed with a new or re-shaped product or service and thus a new group of people who are satisfied with the product or service presented with the no competitor market place. Value of Marketing Marketing is as old as human civilization. History of mankind is full of developments resulting from a gradual process of evolution, and modern marketing is no exception to this rule. Now marketing has developed into a full-fledged discipline. Many managers consider market¬ing as the most important of all management functions in business, in¬dustry or service undertakings. Managers have now realized that the success of any enterprise depends on how efficiently they handle market¬ing. (Yang, 2007) Marketing is a dynamic, exciting and challenging activity. It affords ample employment opportunities in the modern business world. The success of business enterprises depends upon the efficiency of market¬ing management. The marketing manager must be aware of the changing needs and desires of consumers. He must concentrate on demand stimulat¬ing and demand fulfilling efforts of the enterprise. Demand creation and demand fulfilling activities are inter-related. These activities include designing of a new product, its production, distribution, promotion and pricing. This is true in blue ocean strategy. Blue ocean strategy also supports this idea of creation of demand by adopting new methods and finding new group of customer for the product. But it devices plan for finding no competition in the marketing which is not a sustainable principle of marketing the marketing of all products as the demand depends of the necessities and catering this necessity is the very essence of winning competition and success. In common parlance, 'marketing" means the process of distribution of goods and services. The term ‘marketing’ embraces all resources and activities necessary to direct and facilities the flow of goods and services from the producer to the consumer. For such an activity demand creation and catering such created demand is vital. In blue ocean strategy, this is done by finding the exact pulse of the product in the market and caters such created demand with the product line. Hence finding new market place is necessary to implement such a non-competitive idea in the market. According to Theodore Levitt (1983) , “firms should look at the world as a market of similarities, which it should exploit to standardize, rather than a market of differences where it should always customize and localize.” Every business unit operates within a particular environment; an essential feature of marketing management is that the environment exerts much influence on marketing operations. The environmental forces may be internal or external. The internal forces are inherent in any organization and are within the control of the management. But external forces are generally uncontrollable by the management. The various environmental forces that have a bearing on the decisions of the marketing management may be divided into two groups: Controllable Variables, and Un¬controllable Variables. Controllable variables are the decision areas within the control of the management. But uncontrollable variables are forces that impose restric¬tions or limitations on the decisions of the management. The success of a marketing manager depends on how he uses the means of adaptation to counteract, the influence of environment, with a view to guiding the com-pany towards the most profitable opportunities. As the environment is subject to continuous change, the company should make corresponding modifications in the marketing practices if it has to survive. Hence adopting suitable strategy is just what is needed in the success of a product. Competition cannot be avoided but can be limited with value added qualities to the goods or service. Thus finding a winning marketing strategy rather than creating a space of uncompetitive atmosphere is more beneficial to the overall success of the firm. In addition, every attempt on the part of the marketer in furtherance of sale would tantamount to marketing strategy. In this sense, even a marketing mix emphasizing on product, pricing, physical distribution and promotion strategies would become part of the broad horizon of marketing strategies. According to Michael E Porter (1985) marketing strategy has only one goal - to cope with the competition and find the market space for the product and win the competition. Marketing plans devised for the marketing must be suited to products. Marketing strategies are those battle plans used to fight the competition in the industry that a company currently participates in. In blue ocean strategy there is no competition or competition is eliminated with new unique quality of the product or service where by customer are attracted to the product which is marketed in the present market place. This is not a winning marketing strategy in its full meaning as the market depends on many factors and competitions is one of the essential element in it and this must be considered seriously for the marketing of any product as the globalization has changed the very way of marketing and the present generations are leaving in the very scenario of global village. Marketing Plans & Products The difference between Red Ocean and Blue Ocean Strategy is that in Red Ocean, companies compete in existing market space, tries to beat the competition, exploit existing demand, makes the value-cost-trade-off and aligns the whole system of firms activities with its strategic choice of differentiation or low cost. Whereas Blue Ocean creates its own market space with no competition, create and captures new demand, break the value-cost-trade-off and aligns the whole system of firms activities in pursuit of differentiation and low cost. (Andy Young) Blue Ocean Strategy can be constructed on six point framework which is stated as follows: 1. Look across alternative industries 2. Look across strategic groups within industries 3. Look across the chain of buyers 4. Look across complementary product and service offerings 5. Look across functional or emotional appeal to buyers 6. Look across time. (Kim and Renee, 2005) Marketing plans vary from industry to industry. While formulating a plan the marketer must think of the product. The product maybe a con¬sumer product or an industrial product. Marketer must also take into account the sys¬tem of distribution, promotion and pricing. The product, distribution, promotion and price are the various elements of a comprehensive market¬ing plan. They are sometimes called the marketing inputs. Blue ocean strategy requires that marketing plan to be shaped not with the product but with the customer demands. But in true sense, it is essential to cater the requirements and demands of the customer at the time of product development and the marketing of that developed product to the customer segmented for this. Thus target customer may be developed after the product development but avoiding competition for this product is not simple task as pictured by the blue ocean strategies. Product strategy is a part of marketing strategy. It defines the place in the market, where the product is supposed to fit and specifies the appeal that is to be used for getting the product accepted by the consumers. The aim of product strategy is to maintain an existing market share / to increase the share or to capture a new market. According¬ly, the existing products will be revised; a new product line maybe added or an entirely new product line may be introduced. Product has an identity or personality as its own. Utility is the one of the important component of product identity and this is the demand-generating factor for the product. Competition will be attracted towards the demand and going ahead above the competition is just what needed to win the customer. Hence gaining competitive advantage is essential for the product success over other products or existing players in the market. Promotional activities help to gain a competitive edge. Both the amount invested in promotion and the effectiveness with which it is used is important. (Yang, 2007) The marketer will have to develop a strategy for introducing a new product in the market. The strategies at the introductory stage cover product, size, packaging price, positioning, distribution, advertising and sales promotion, share of target market etc. They will undergo changes in the subsequent stages of the product. For overcome the barriers in the market process of the product during the time of marketing, the marketer has to estimate the initial sales and repeat sales to estimate whether the product would give a reasonable returns to the firm at the time of product development. Blue Ocean Strategy is not an apt choice for the marketing of all products, as it cannot compete with the competitor with the same standard product. (Kim and Renee, 2005) But in practice, there are significant differences in the marketing of services and products. In the case of a product, the buyer can often test the various products before he makes the purchasing decision; but this is not possible in services. And the only thing a company can show to the potential buyer is the work it has done for others. The buyer thus finds it difficult to differentiate between the claims of various service organizations. A product is offered with special features. But in service it is the ‘personal touch’ that counts much. There is the interaction of people. The behavior of individuals have much impact on consumers, e.g. a friend¬ly receptionist, an impolite bank clerk etc. In other words, it is the quality of this interaction that brings success or failure for the marketing effort of a service organization. Service organizations have to adopt marketing con¬cept in marketing services. Thus, adopting marketing concept for the betterment of a service is essential to win over the competition and in this regard, blue ocean strategy is not a fit one in finding the ideal condition for the growth of the firm as it segment the market with a small percentage of customer whose demands are catered with more care and future development of such market depends on so many other external and internal factors which are always changing from time to time with the global market scenario. Wal-Mart could be great example to cite for new market creation. Sam Walton in 1962 had an innovative idea of making profits from discount stores, which were in operation at the time. He thought of making profits on bulk sales rather than making profits from customers. Even today, Wal-Mart which is considered as the biggest organization in the world and in the history thrives on creating history and achieve its goal, by the medium of heavy sales and attracting customers through innovative methods of marketing in its discount stores. (Brunn, 2006) Market Segmentation & Blue Ocean Strategy It is important to segment the market and decide a particular group that will serve as the target market. In Blue Ocean strategy, this concept of segmentation is implemented by the way of attracting existing or new customer who has some reason for not being a consumer for some particular product or service. Finding the reason for this attitude and devising a new service or introducing a new product for this group is what blue ocean strategy propose for covering this segmented group. Hence in Blue Ocean strategy, there is no actual segmentation, but covering a segmented group with their needs is done. In designing marketing plans and crafting marketing strategies, there are several concepts that are organised to create a broader picture of the firm’s situations. Part of these ideas includes the four Ps, which are shortened for product, pricing, promotion, and placement. These are valuable aspects that need to serve as the foundation of marketing management strategies. Usually, the concept of marketing is generalised and extensively focused on the manner in which goods or service are presented in the market. Gradually, practitioners have made specific changes to accommodate the different components of marketing. But in Blue ocean strategy, it is nor the goods presented in the market, but the existed or created market will position the product or service designed for this segmented group. The product that a company is providing becomes a major issue in the conception of marketing plans (Brown, 1993) . Indeed, quality is an important aspect that the product needs to acquire. Moreover, the product needs to address the needs of the consumers. These two considerations are vital in gauging the actions to be made in the marketing strategies. In devising marketing strategies pricing methods are fundamental especially in competing with other products. But in Blue ocean strategy there is no competition to other products. For consumers, price serves as a barrier to purchase high quality commodities (Guiltinan et al., 1996) . On the other hand, there are top-notch products that have been identified as consumer friendly in relation to price. Every product in the market is provided with several sources where competitive advantage can be derived. In particular, some of its marketing attributes can lead a product to unprecedented success. For this, the firm has to start from the basics before making complicated strategies. This entails the analysis of current environments where the marketing strategies will work. Also, the company needs to use marketing tools that will allow the effective use of its resources to make the marketing initiatives easier to manifest. Overall, there has to be a clear direction as to the marketing strategy for the firm. There are characteristics that the company can use to fuel its marketing strategies. Aaker (1984) further stated that marketing techniques such as segmentation and targeting would further specify the marketing needs of the firm. Holistically, competitive strategy in relation to marketing comes with a complete understanding of the general concepts and procedurally uses different marketing mechanisms using quality instruments. Thus, marking strategy based on blue ocean concept has little meaning in the overall process of firm activities. Marketing in Blue Ocean In theory, positioning refers to the perceptions developed in the minds of the target market. Basically, it entails the creation of image of the brand and the entire organisation (Trout and Rivkin, 1996) . Positioning is the act of designing the company’s offering and image to occupy a distinctive place in the target market’s mind. The end result of positioning is the successful creation of a market-focused value proposition, a cogent reason why the target market should buy the product. Andy Young explains that the business has to cater to the needs of three different noncustomers which include ‘soon to be’ noncustomers who are on the edge of market, ‘refusing’ noncustomer, the ones who consciously choose against the market, and third is ‘unexplored’ noncustomers who are in the markets at the distance. Therefore it is clear from this explanation by Andy that business in Blue Ocean has to rely somewhat on marketing to attract noncustomers in order to build the business based on six point frameworks. Marketing in any ocean whether it be according to rhetoric of Kim and Renee, Red Ocean and Blue Ocean, is an integral part of any business. The six points formula on which the Blue Ocean should be build clearly states to look across the functional and emotional appeal to buyers. In the Wal-Mart example cited above, it is mentioned that Wal-Mart earned huge revenue on bulk purchases only because it could attract customers in large numbers. Wal-Mart attracted consumers with attractive marketing strategies which forced the customer to shop at Wal-Mart. Recent and presently under progress, Indian Premier League (IPL) is the best example of blue ocean strategy. A totally new concept of cricket is attracting biggest of the entrepreneurs and business magnet to invest in this new venture. Two years back it was never thought of Twenty 20 game but now it is challenging all the big formats in business. However, IPL attributes its success a lot to its marketing. Players of the franchise teams, film stars, bigwigs, etc. were included in the marketing strategy to promote this version of game. Conclusion The essence of marketing strategy is to understand the current forces and to use them to the organizations business advantage. Blue ocean strategy has a little influence to this process as the physical barriers that obstructs the tapping of customer has been disappeared de t the globalization process and one who has the capability to compete can succeed in its segment. Marketing ideas have to be done using creativity with the inclination to use the fundamental tools and concepts. Thus, Blue Ocean strategy cannot be nullified; it must be used with other strategies for the formulation of new strategic policies for he entire firm. These mixed concepts will help the marketer to succeed in this global market scenario. Marketing can be managed perfectly by managing production of product or service. Addressing consumer’s needs are vital in marking of a product or concept and caring their demands will expand the number of customer to the product or service as compeered t the next competitor. There is no doubt that consumer’s needs are to be satisfied. (Kolter 2005) A company adopting the marketing concept has three distinguishing elements around its marketing function: it has consumer-orientation in its business plann¬ing and activities; it focuses its attention to corporate objectives, in¬cluding profit. Corporate objectives are given top preference and depart¬mental goals act as the means to achieve corporate goals. And it adopts the systems approach in planning, organizing, controlling and coordinating its entire business as one system to achieve the overall corporate objectives. Customer-orientation, profitable sales volume and integrated marketing activities are the three pillars of the marketing concept. There is magical readymade tool available but can make with the real time data and experience in the global market. Marketing strategy is all about firm success and profit making. Hence, Marketing is unlikely to be the source of "blue ocean" strategies so it has limited value in the strategic debate in companies.

The growth and prosperity of country mainly depends on its population trends. Depending on its size and type of population, respective governments have to make amendments in their policy and other issues. The United Kingdom is not an exception to these phenomena as it is one of the most urbanized nations on this planet. And the present global warming threats are making life worse for all the developed and developing nations around the world to reduce the pollution, use of electricity, other unnatural resources, etc. to provide necessary basic amenities to their respective citizens. The marathon race for the 2009 Heisman is rounding the last turn of the gun lap. The actual ballots went into the mail two weeks ago. And the winner is. . .
Hold on, we have another ten days to go. The actual ceremony will be held in the Nokia Theatre in Times Square on the 12th of December. That gives us all more time to explain to our knowledge challenged sports buddies why they are so freakin stupid that they can’t see the obvious. It also gives us one more week to separate the wheat from the chaff on the field where the trophy should be won or lost.If everybody who has a vote remembers to vote, there will be 926 ballots to count. That includes 55 from previous Heisman winners plus one from the general public.

The Mission Statement from the Heisman Trust establishes the requirements for the most coveted award in football. The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.

Like the Maxwell Award (outstanding player) and the Walter Camp Award (player of the year), the criteria for the Heisman Trophy Award is pretty well left up to those doing the voting. As a result, it has become part popularity contest, part a skills award and part a platform for journalists and coaches to show their favoritisms and biases.
 
Without burdening everyone with the mechanics of Sectional Representatives, State Representatives and actual voters, just accept if you will that most coaches and football journalists (print and video) are voters. Here in the South our Sectional Representative is Jimmie McDowell an Ole Miss grad and Executive Director of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.

Now let’s look at this last weekend of football and see who is in the group of favorites and who has the best chance of improving their chances. The only way I know of to get an unbiased ranking is to see what the bookmakers have to say. They could care less who wins because they will win anyway.

The World Sports Exchange has them this way as of noon Sunday:
 Colt McCoy           Texas       55%
 Toby Gerhart          Stanford  15%
 Mark Ingram          Alabama  15%
 Tim Tebow            Florida    10%

That grouping seems to be well within a reasonable variation from the other sites I looked at except for ESPN who had Boise State’s Kellen Moore a very close 5th, so let’s take a look at Kellen first.

As a sophomore Moore has put up some great numbers passing for 38 TDs with only 3 INTs while leading the undefeated Broncos to an undefeated season.  With their only remaining game against lowly New Mexico State (3-9) it is hard to see Moore’s stock going any higher.  With the exception of an impressive opening game win over Oregon, the Broncos faced little competition. Their opponents this year had a combined 65 wins with 83 losses. Aside from Oregon, Fresno State - ranked 51 (Sagarin) - was their toughest opponent. I think Moore has everything to lose and nothing to win this weekend, but he is a sophomore and will only get better. If The Broncos end up playing Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl, Kellen Moore will get the chance to prove me very wrong, but a bit late for the voting.

Moving up the chart we can take down one name and elevate the other with this game.  In a game that could overshadow the BCS Championship game, two 12-0 divisional champs meet in the SEC Championship game. The Florida Gators and Tim Tebow take on the Crimson Tide and Mark Ingram at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Ingram didn’t help his standings last week against Auburn. The Tide, outplayed for the majority of the game, had to come from behind with less than 2 minutes to go in the game to take home a 26-21 win. Ingram carried 16 times for 30 yards, his season low totals.

Tebow on the other hand, playing his last game in The Swamp, ran roughshod over a hapless Florida State team. Tebow threw for 3 TDs and ran for 2 more before turning the QB job over to heir apparent John Brantley. It was back in 2007 that Tebow threw for 3 TDs against the Noles to lock up the Heisman for that year.

So a winning performance from either Tebow or Ingram would probably bump up their Heisman numbers while the loser can go along to New York to see the tree at Rockefeller Center.

That leaves Colt McCoy, who looked Heisman-ready last week against Texas A&M. McCoy threw for 304 yards and ran for another 175 in a route of A&M. All this against the Longhorns arch rival in a game that was featured on national television. McCoy had some early lack-luster performances in the early season, but last Saturday was definitely a Heisman-like performance.

Texas has the disadvantage in that they did not play as tough a schedule as either Florida or Alabama and the Big-12 Conference Championship game against Nebraska will go off with the Longhorns as about a 14-point favorite. All that makes it hard for McCoy to come up with an even more impressive performance, but he may not need it.

Stanford’s Toby Gerhart rushed for 205 on 29 carries against Notre Dame last weekend but he has no more chances to improve his standing with the Heisman voters thanks to the Pac -10’s not having a conference Championship game. Gerhart ends the season with 1,736 yards on 311 carries averaging over 5.5 yards per carry. It is also worth noting that Stanford’s 8-4 record came against the toughest schedule among the Heisman candidate’s teams.

Gerhart and Moore are out of it. They have run out of season and quality opponents. Tebow and Ingram will probably both end up in New York unless this weekend’s SEC Championship game ends up a blow-out for either team. McCoy has a trip to the big Apple in his pocket.

I`m looking at the "Murgul Maicutei Moise” building through a curtain of flakes large and dense. I always wondered what hides within it, because outside is a strange combination of ancient Egypt and Gothic architecture.

In the living room my panternts decide the bright future black sheep of the house. I try not to listen to what adults discuss and decide what I'm concerned, but the tone of voice rises from time to time and hear, without want, small parts of the discussion.
Today I go in front of eyes: how lucky can a man breaks and how easily you can smooth flight of a bird? Ted again rekindled my hope in the soul, but it depends on me or ...

-I wish to establish a team of girls to practice wrestling. You know what is wrestling?

-Yes, I learned Saturday that just passed ...

-... but, being underage, you have to talk to my parents and they will decide. Would be forbidden to mention that I exercise until December at the earliest because of an operation incurred last week.
I understand. I think it's fine. I guess you're still in high school, and differs from the system here in the United States and Canada.

Finally! Thinking about how I will handle flights to Middle-earth, unknown by anyone. There will be days when to me will be night. Why do I say hard? I had the chance to leave the country at a very early age and I learn how to handle it by myself among strangers, through a scholarship. It was hard and there, because no one knew the language very well, but need you learn. Besides the language, I had to adapt and to a different time zone with some good hours ago, with a different environment than that grown in the I had been quite determined to break the environment in which I had lived what might be called beautiful not just a childhood surrounded by many argues among the parents, now that I saw in an environment where peace and quiet reigned between four walls, and questions had to appear normal for a child entering adolescence. Seemed to me a little strange to be someone totally foreign person who will be there when we need to consider to be my good, if I all I need, to answer with patience and good questions which will not be stopped like .....

And yet, I had the power to break me every summer of my little paradise to return home to my end, the differences, even school. For 3 years I made a mad courage to go back to the house where I lived a nightmare after nightmare. How come? Relatively simple, in my view ... accommodation abroad was quite fast, in both which I found him totally atypical for Europe and in the a man who can not stand the place very long, but very calculated action, movement and thought, I managed to get into the school's volleyball team following a rather drastic preselection, plus any height not benefit me very much -1.63 .....

From here, my life began to take shape in which only a dream .......

Diabetes, is a blessing? Is she crazy? If you are wondering why I titled my article like I did then read on.

I was number ten of a family of eleven. When I was younger, as a matter of fact, nine years old I was still wetting the bed.  The reason being that I could not process sugars and starches because my pancreas was not producing insulin.  Back then my parents thought I was just too lazy to get up and use the bathroom. I went to a Catholic school and I would nod off during class.  The nuns would whack me with a ruler to wake me up.  They, nor I, at the time understand that I was suffering with either hyperglycemia, high blood sugar where an overabundance of sugar is circulating in the blood or hypoglycemia, low blood sugar where there is an inadequate about of glucose or fuel to the brain. I was constantly thirsty and would eat more food than any of my brothers. All these symptoms were signs of diabetes.

The treatment, back then, for type 1 sugar diabetes was insulin injections. I was a child with diabetes and everyone in my family wanted to know what could be done.  Diabetes is a disease and there is no cure.  So, why would I think it is a blessing?  Read on.

Giving a child shots everyday, for my mother, was horrifying. Being number ten of eleven children I did not get a lot of attention until, whala! I was looked at as being different from the rest. My mother use to introduce me to people and say “This is my daughter and she is a diabetic but she does not look like one does she?” Even though diabetes is a disease I was not sure what I was suppose to look like. I finally got my moment in the sun. 

I was a tomboy and liked to play kickball with the neighborhood boys. I was just a silly girl, until I started giving myself my own injections to help control my own blood glucose levels.  Before that I was dependent on my mom.  After I started giving my own injections the boys thought I was cool because I would go outside so they could see me stick this needle in my thigh and not cry. I was taking six shots a day to help control my diabetes.

None of my other brothers or sisters has type 1 diabetes mellitus but, the disease that six of them have is alcoholism.  My father was an alcoholic but NOT a diabetic. 

Diabetes usually runs in the family and may skip a generation but in my case it did not run in my family.  Sooo, I ask myself like most other people with a disease, Why me?

We are now globalised so if you realise, we won't have different races anymore. I mean people are mixing up. Maybe we won't see anymore white, black, brown, etc. We all will be beige. Firstly, this is not racism. I'm just pointing out facts that people overlooked. I was having breakfast at a nearby coffeeshop where there are no more vacant tables. These two Malays gentlemen could not find a seat. So they went up to a more senior Malay gentleman who was already having a cup of coffee and was sitting alone at the 4-seats table. So they asked the oldman if they could sit with him. The oldman agreed and then they did something which triggered me to write this entry. Before they sat down, they each gave the oldman a handshake. Wow, I thought. Where did that come from? Such mannerism. Look at the rest of us. We probably would not even think about sharing a seat with a stranger, let alone shaking hand with him. Even we do share the seat, we probably act in an awkward manner hoping the former guy to leave immediately so we can have the seat to ourselves. We are such a deuchebag.

I ride a motorcycle to work everyday and I see people trying to commit vehicular suicide and homicide almost everyday.  Why are we in such a hurry to get home in the evenings when there is no real reason.  Its not like we have a set time to get there.  And if your spouse is in a bad mood when you do get home the rush was not worth it at all.  Why rush home to get yelled at about what Jr did while you were at work and you had no control over.  Is getting home in such a rush worth risking your life along with someone else?  And people here in the south do not know how to act when it rains.  They act like its a once in a lifetime event.  I see motorcyclists doing the same thing and without the proper riding gear.  I don't always wear my protective gear while riding but you won't catch me weaving in and out of traffic running 190mph with a t-shirt shorts and flip flops on either.  The fastest I have ever been on a Motorcycle is about 80 on the interstate and that was with full face helmet and other protective clothing and not weaving in and out of traffic.  Wake up people, slow down and enjoy life and let others enjoy it too.  I ride because it saves on gas and I enjoy it when I don't have some bozo trying to cut me off or pulling out in front of me only to turn 20 ft down the rode.  I always look out for those people driving with a cellphone stuck to their ear. They seem to be in another world.   I also look out for the willy weavers and don't dare get near them when I  spot them.   Drunk driving is stupid  no matter what kind of vehicle you are in.  Its just not worth it. 

PrintNPost seemed like a good idea. What could be better than blogging and writing articles, posting them on line to a simple-to-use interface that checks them briefly for content and then publishes them? It's a great idea, but only if it's maintained faithfully. Blogs, by definition, are frequently updated. If you check PrintNPost's rules, contributing authors are expected to contribute frequently. This frequency is useless if the Web site itself isn't updated! Perhaps daily updates are too much to ask, but 3 to 4 updates a week seems like a reasonable minimum.

Now, after more than a month of checking the site to find it virtually blank, it has finally returned, mysteriously without any articles by its authors, past or present.

I've had enough. It's time to take the blog elsewhere. I'm tired of emailing and asking that the site be updated. I'm tired of watching my articles fall from second or third listing in a Google search to the third or fourth page. Any listing on Google at all is useless anyway, since the links don't lead to live articles anymore. I'm tired of waiting a minimum of two weeks to get any submissions posted, and having submissions consistently overlooked on the few update sessions that have occurred (my last two articles were submitted at the beginning of May; they have never been posted). I'm tired of reminding the site's originator, who is proud of his entrepreneurial skills, that timely maintenance is key to continued success.

It will take a while to transition this blog to a different provider, or to my own site, but the process has started. And, by the time this blog post is finally put online, if it ever is, the new location will probably be up and running. If you've enjoyed reading about the exploits, opinions, and foibles of the Homesteader family, and would like to continue to do so, send us a message in the comments section below. When the site's ready to go elsewhere, we'll notify you of the new URL.

I regret having to take this step. PrintNPost helped my family organize our thoughts and start writing about the life we're leading. It also introduced me to some fellow writers whose friendship and counsel I value highly. The system, when it works, is excellent, and has taken much of the work of blogging off of our shoulders. The site's owner has been curteous, friendly, and responsive to authors' needs in the past. I only wish it hadn't become a low priority for him, as it ultimately seems to have done.

I have tried out a couple of paid surveys sites, spending quite a bit of money on the process. All that has happened is they send me the names of other sites which are actually paying for taking surveys.
I also receive only 1 or 2 surveys a month which pays the minimum. In 3 months I still haven't made back the money i spent.
This brings me to the conclusion that most paid surveys sites are scams and does nothing but send you a document with potential real paid survey companies of whom half do not exist and the others don't really pay.

If there is anyone out there who has a different opinion please comment.

Gah, so, im typing this, in my nans computer room. While a toddler-Cousin runs around. How i got here? Simple. 25 hours of travell after 2 hour stop at home, since we were already traveling last week. Anyway, once we got settled down in the vehicle, and drove for the first 4 hours, i made a video, witch i decided not to post, watched a couple movies, we arrived at the ferry at about 11:45. I explored the whole ternimal, seeing theres nothing to do. I slept. best invention ever, go to sleep, and time goes by. End of Boredness. boarding at 2:30AM i was commanded to sleep. Again. Pssh, 8 hours of trvall tomorow. Why? half an hour later, i snuck outa the sleepers, and roamed. Turns out everyone else was asleep, and everytyhing was shut down. Even the outside doors were locked. With nothing else to do, i explored the lower levels. meh, That was fun but….Got boring, so back to bed. Yady Yady Yah, at 8:30 the trip was done. And anther segment began. 8 hours. car. Family. Awful music. Awful movies. Not tired. That was fun. looking back, i dont know how i survied but, i did. grrrr. Now for anther week, im here. I braught my camera, but forgot a download cable, now im lost. Nothing. Empty. boredem. Attempting to write a long blog post. Lol; im done. Later.

Affliction matchmaking is really weird. They introduced Mixed Martial Arts dropping gazillion of clams engaging superior MMA champions making a crisis in MMA fighter pay. They were paying much more that what they were really worthy, making a massive departure from the UFC.

Affliction ventured to be the strongest opponent to the UFC, but they never responded to the Dana White assaults. They never tried to counter the UFC maneuvers when they were threw out off Las Vegas for their second show, Affliction: Day of Reckoning on October 11, 2008. They just set back the outcome to a later date.

They were pushed to switch the lineup of the event and to do what the UFC worshipped. They never tried to keep the date and the card and to find another emplacement to keep the show. They just bent over and accepted without defending. Strange for a fighting promotion.

I'm collecting play shoes (size 12) and school supplies for my great nephew, Joshua, 4 who is being raised by one of my sisters and they are dirt poor. Her husband works but she is disabled and she takes care of Joshua throughout the day. I personally cannot help them financially on my own.

With every day that has passed since Sarah abdicated her Alaskan throne, I have waited and wondered when the other shoe will drop. We are all waiting, I think. There is a statewide, perhaps even nationwide, sense of anticipation. Why Sarah, why?

I tend to be on the other end of the political spectrum, but I still feel disappointment. Even if she is a conservative’s conservative, she seemed so with it, so professional. For her to leave her job in the middle of her term smacks of flighty. I can only be relieved that she did not win her Vice Presidential bid (admittedly, I was anyway) only to leave that job in the middle of her term.

Everyone has a theory of why Palin resigned her office and I have mine too. Palin, from the beginning, has never done well with criticism. I think she was just mad. Her hasty media conference with her staccato (angry?) unwritten speech… the fact that Parnell only found out that he was becoming Alaska’s Governor 2 days prior… yeah… I think she just couldn’t take the heat anymore and rather than operate in a world that has two sides, and one of those which would always find fault, she is poised to catapult herself into the middle of a very conservative base that will only praise her for thinking the same exact things that they think.

Curiously, if she stays home and does not pursue any further political or religious agenda’s, she will once and for all prove that she is exactly what she has always claimed to be, A “Hockey Mom.” Good luck, Sarah. We are all watching, waiting and wondering.

I can list at least 10 reasons why men cheat

Women often know when their man is cheating. A man that is always cheating, often get caught sooner or later. The more he cheats; there is always probability that he will eventually get caught. It’s probably very difficult to handle two relationships. Due to the internet invention, the accessibility to partners has become somewhat easier than ever. There are several ways to find out if your man is cheating, I have listed a few warning signs of a man that is cheating below. Why do men cheat? If you see any of those signs in your man then he is definitely cheating beware ladies.

1.      He is hardly around when you need him. He is always saying that he had to stay back late at work. Always making up excuses to fine time to be with his other woman.

2.      He stop being affectionate, activity in the bed room is limited because of other commitments.

8.      He will carry his cell phone around because he fair that you might answer it if it rings. Getting phone call at various hours in the night. He will either move away to take a phone calls which he never normally does. Talking a strange language when he gets a call. You notice some strange numbers in his phone.

9.      He starts using the computer more frequently now. Begin to stay on the computer for hours in the night which he never normally does.

If new housing starts do anything but shrink during the next year or two, the glut will remain or increase, and housing prices will continue to sink. Americans will feel even more insecure, and continue to hoard their acorns. Unemployment will continue to rise. The vicious cycle will spin on.

Until the new houses already on the market are sold off, housing prices can’t stabilize and new homes can’t be built without contributing further to the debilitating glut.

I’m aware that home-builders, tradesmen and craftsmen will continue to hurt for a while longer under this scenario. But long term health in the housing market, and steady work for these hardworking folks who were done in by everyone from local mortgage brokers to international banking giants, cannot be restored unless the glut is gone.

A brilliant friend who’s managed mutual fund and hedge fund money just told me I was correct, but since the market doesn’t see it that way, being right is not it’s own reward.

Around the globe:

governments stocked up with anti-virals and flu vaccines to the tune of billions of pounds, courtesy of taxpayers;

pharmacies and hospitals stocked up with face masks (which provide limited protection, so are practically useless);

pharma and biotech corporations' share prices rocketed – such as GlaxoSmithKline, Gilead Sciences, Roche, Novavac, Biocryst, 3M (producers of Tamiflu, Relenza and face masks, etc.);

media empires sold more newspapers and advertising and boosted their ratings;

governments collected sales tax on all these items and will doubtless collect extra taxes on ensuing profits.

The losers were the Mexicans, pork product manufacturers and taxpayers around the world.  The peso fell, the Mexican iShares market was down by 8%, its airports and transport systems were hammered, food manufacturers’ share prices were down by 10% and the Mexican economy has lost millions for each day of this ‘epidemic of fear’.  Some forecasters put the total cost of this scare in the trillions of dollars, taking all its inevitable ripple effects into account.

 

According to Dr. Brian Currie, Vice President and Medical Director at Montefiore Medical Center (New York), seasonal flu kills around 36,000 people per year in America alone.  Worldwide, regular flu kills between one 2,500,000 and 5,000,000 people each year. The rate of infection of swine flu is nowhere near that of regular flu; it has killed a fraction of that number and not all were not brimming with health before they contracted it.

 

The only possible credible cause for concern is that the swine flu strain found in America was far weaker than that found in Mexico.  According to early reports, the Mexican casualties might have suffered greater impact due to genetic qualities specific to Mexicans, since the victims were relatively young and healthy.

 

If the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) were concerned about a more virulent strain migrating into America, why did it expressly choose not to close the borders, stating that it was “already too late”? Why did it then suggest that people might have to be quarantined to stop the virus spreading further?  These two stances are contradictory.  Was it too late to stop the contagion, or wasn’t it?

 

After a week of media and government frenzy, we now discover that the contagion rate is nothing like the potential rate that had been mooted by the DHS.

 

So we come full circle.  Here we are, mired in a worldwide depression which could rival that of the 1930s, commodity sales, stocks, pension funds and tax receipts all horribly depressed.  Miraculously, along comes this almighty scare which boosts the sorry coffers of corporations and governments alike.

 

Call me cynical, but when we are faced with a serious pandemic in the future, who will take heed of those who cry “wolf!”?
