I am a 23 year old art student in Victoria BC Canada. I enjoy artwork in all forms, but like to Paint and take photos the most. I am on my way to becoming a teacher so that i can teach young students how to refine their artistic talents.
Hey there folks
Like almost everyone else out there I am fascinated by new technology. When I figured it was about time to get myself a new camera I happily started digging around the internet for any news, information and tips I could get.
I saw a buzz on many photography sites about a little camera called the G9 Powershot by Canon. I thought to myself what was the big deal? knowing the previous build, the G7 was a slightly better then average camera. Well after more digging I realized this camera was a beast, it was Canons challange to entry level dslr cameras, and in my opinion it wins.
This beautiful camera boasts 12.1 megapixels. Its got a 6x optical zoom and a 4x digital zoom and runs on compact SD memory cards. The biggest and best feature of this camera is the all new ability to shoot in RAW format. For all those masses out there complaining about the inability for the G7 to do this, well Cannon listened.
I have not run into a single large problem with this camera and I've been using it fairly constantly for about 4 days now. For the advanced users you can change anything and everything on the camera settings. The menu system is nice and simple to follow making it hard to get
lost in the camera. For the new photographer you can simply "get your feet wet" with the camera by setting it to certain shooting modes that only allow you to change certain things about the camera settings (aperature priority and ISO, Scene settings etc)
What this means is the camera is not going to confuse you when you first start it up and try to take pictures. It will slowly help you figure it out, making it great for the novice or beginner photographers. The final praise I have for this camera is the very large LCD screen which displays everything beautifully, The battery life is also commendable I got about 60 photos, nearly all with flash out of a single charge. When I was done I just used the recharger which came with the camera. A hour and a half later and I was out shooting beautiful photos again.
In conclusion. If you are thinking of starting up stock photography, or simply want a high end point and click camera. This versatile little camera will not fail you. I had the highest of expectations and they were exceeded.
Cheers,
