But its not really the google phone like everyone suspected. Apparently google has decided to stay out of the hardware side of things and has partnered with over 30 companies whome will be running Googles operating system and supporting software on their own versions of the phone.

Google has called their software Android. Everything else with the phone is decided by the manufacturers or carriers. While android simply makes the operating system and supporting software play nice with whatever the manufacturer

or carrier decides to put on the phone. It will also bring down the price of cell phones since how they run will be streamlined through googles software operating system, essentially saving the developers the time of creating their own operating system for each type of phone they create.

This platform is going to revolutionize the mobile phone market and google is no stranger to marketing, expect much more news on Android in the coming days. Consumers can expect to see the first android products rolling off the line as early as the second half of 2008
