I am a 23 year old art student in Victoria BC Canada. I enjoy artwork in all forms, but like to Paint and take photos the most. I am on my way to becoming a teacher so that i can teach young students how to refine their artistic talents.
Hey all,
Well I managed to get my hands on Kane and Lynch PC for a test drive. What I found was a fairly generic shooter wrapped in a fairly generic package.
Kane and Lynch puts you in the feet of the bad guy, a ex Mercenary sitting on death row. Through a series of corny events ripped from any number of bad action movies, you are tasked with rescuing your wife and daughter while being forced to commit more crime sprees in the process. Oh and its all done with a psychotic pill popping murderer at your side, also known as Lynch.
OK, OK so the story is a bit thin, but hows the game play? Well the graphics run from pretty to pretty dingy, depends on where you are in the game and what you are doing. Generally though the game is on par with last generation titles. The graphics are by no means terrible, but they are not the prettiest thing out there, not in the top five either.
The game plays a lot like a console shooter, no surprise here this is also on consoles. For example, aiming, it does not really matter where you are pointing your gun at distant enemies because your bullets seem to randomly stray. Its more just luck and sheer volume of bullets that will bring down distant enemies. I assume this was done to create a bit more frantic and prolonged firefights, which lets be honest
is the games main selling point. While this is accomplished, it feels dumbed down when your cross hairs are clearly on a enemy but he just wont go down.
The developers touted the crowd scenes in all their preview videos and to be honest the first time I was put into a large crowd in the game I was impressed, the novelty quickly wore off. I caught people suddenly appearing out of thin air at times and wonky body physics (a trend the developer seems to keep going) think hitman rag doll physics, remember how the bodies would just kind of slowly spread out into a default flat position? same thing happens here. Not a huge deal but noticeable and annoying at times.
The game play delivers the same basic thing over and over again. That is firefight after firefight challenging you to move up under fire close enough to dispatch the enemy. Now the problem here is instead of thinking of inventive or smarter enemies. The Developers simply added much more of them while giving you less and less cover to fight behind. kind of annoying.
I did not get a chance to play Multi player but friends and coworkers that have said its a good novelty, but provides no lasting appeal. meaning this ones a rental folks.
I give it a 7 out of ten.
cheers,
Z
