July 3 is the feast of St. Thomas the Apostle which is a great opportunity for me to talk about the importance of faith.
St Thomas is best known as the apostle who did not believe Jesus had risen from the dead until he saw for himself.
John 20:25-29
So the other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, "Peace be with you." Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe." Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!"  Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

Faith is a key element in the teachings of the Catholic Church which comes directly from the word of God. There are many scriptures within the Bible which reference to the power of faith and how God will reward those who have faith in Him. Here are a few examples:

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrew 11:6

We are confident
that God listens to us if we ask for anything that has his approval. We know that he listens to our requests. So we know that we already have what we ask him for. 1John 4:14-15

I am the vine. You are the branches. Those who live in me while I live in them will produce a lot of fruit. But you can’t produce anything without me. If you live in me and what I say lives in you, then ask for anything you want, and it will be yours. John 15:5,7

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Jesus said to them, “Have faith in God! I can guarantee this truth: This is what will be done for someone who doesn’t doubt but believes what he says will happen: He can say to this mountain, ‘Be uprooted and thrown into the sea,’ and it will be done for him. That’s why I tell you to have faith that you have already received whatever you pray for, and it will be yours. Whenever you pray, forgive anything you have against anyone. Then your Father in heaven will forgive your failures. Mark 11:22-24

And my favorite,
...for with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26

This is just the tip of the iceberg to get the wheels turning. There are endless readings on the subject of faith and I hope this will inspire you to look further into this topic eventually leading you to a deeper faith in God.

Before I sign off I woul like to leave you with something to meditate on regarding faith:

Bury all thought of fear, bitterness, poverty, and failure. God will guide you one day at a time. Each day God will supply the wisdom and the strength.

God bless you...
