Let me give you a little background before I begin my rant about Dish Network's tactics of obtaining new customers.

I recently moved. We had our cable service bundled with our phone and internet. There are limited vendors and companies in our area due to the rural landscape and we went with others' suggestions. This is a company we are familiar with and it is not Dish Network.

From the first week of having our new number (we've only had it 3 weeks) we have been receiving daily calls from Dish Network representatives. Various toll free and unknown/unlisted numbers showing up on our caller ID, and each time we tell them to not call again, we aren't interested. Today, we received two calls within five minutes. The first was someone who could not speak English clearly. When I told them we weren't interested, he attempted to argue with me! The second call was a recording.

So I went to Dish Network's website, as all of these callers have identified themselves as this company, and found their customer service email. Choosing the subject "New Customer Sales" from the dropdown I provided the phone number and name they have been contacting and told them to please stop. We are now on the Federal Do Not Call list and do not appreciate being harassed. I threatened to begin filing complaints, which we can do once we hit the 31 day mark after being added to the list.

Their reply: "Thank you for your email. We apologize for the inconvenience. Based on our records, your information was already added in our Do Not Contact record.

Please understand that independent retailers are making telemarketing calls as well. If you receive further calls, you will need to notify the telemarketer that you wish to be removed from the retailers individual call list. All independent retailers of DISH Network are separate business entities and are not under our direct control."

So, if you have Dish Network, you are at the mercy of the retailer from whom you purchased it. Also, if you have a retailer trying to sell you Dish Network, they don't care about their practices. Persistent retailers have made me refuse to EVER purchase Dish Network. And now the company has reinforced that decision.

A business should care how their associates make them look, especially when they're using their same name and claiming to be that company.
