    "Twighlight" Series: Worth the Hype?

We've all heard about Stephanie Meyer's book "Twighlight," but does the book truely live up to the hype?  A look at the latest teen romance from an adult perspective.

Casting the Movies in My Mind

On imagining characters, and the difficulty of finding a good Christmas read.
An attempt to review the book similarly to the way it was written.

The Giver, as an Adult (kind of)

A reexamination of a novel labeled as juvenile fiction that I argue is anything but.
We may live in them, but that doesn't mean that the human body isn't one of the most complex organisms on the planet. Many adults struggle to understand how everything works - so how can you teach kids how to?
A new book on irrational behavior helps me understand myself and others.

The fourth in the Twilight saga

The fourth installment of Bella and Edward's love story is filled with more action and drama then ever before

The Glass Castle - Jeannette Walls

An inspiring, astounding look into the life of a girl who grew up in poverty. This book will catch you from the first page.

    Hidden Identity

Readers beware of a "nail-biting" journey of lies & deceit. Historical fiction doesn't get any better than this!

    The Watchmen

The best super hero comic ever?

    Scrawny To Brawny - Mejia/Berardi

Ever wondered why you have a hard time putting on weight? Wish you were fat or just not-skinny? Scrawny To Brawny by Michael Mejia and John Berardi may have all the answers you are looking for.
And it may all be simpler than you think. However, the writing style of Mejia and Berardi reminded me of the time I was dragged to death by a runaway team of wild-eyed rabid horses. But it is informative. Read on to find out more.

    Nickel and Dimed

Non fiction book that explores the world of making a living on minimum wage. Written by one of my favorite authors, this book covers the very real and very tragic underbelly of the American job market.

    Omnivore's Dilemma

Ever wonder where your food really comes from? Or how your relationship to food is not as simple as you think? A journey through the American Food Industry is presented as both a personal and universal issue, perfectly written by Michael Pollen

Book Review: Psycho by Robert Bloch.

The chilling reputation of this novel has been somewhat overshadowed by Alfred Hitchcock’s renowned film of the same name, but Psycho is worth reading for its relentless build up of psychological terror.

The Top 20 of My Favorite Books

The top 20 of my favorite books ever.

Have You Been to The Shack Lately?

The Shack  (William Young) is a Christian Fiction novel that is an easy read, with expansive subject matter.  Open this book and you won't put it down.  But when you do, it will have opened your mind  (and maybe your heart) !

    Twilight

    Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer.

There are so many things to read on the Internet these days why would you want to invest in a wireless reader. Here's some information to help you understand the dynamics of Amazon Kindle.

A novel that literally bites you and won't let go.....
The most chilling chapter I have ever read in any book was in Felicia Pearson’s memoir. It was the chapter called, “That’s why they call it Grandma’s House.”

An extremely gorgeous voice in literature gets better. Read it and discuss with everybody

In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan

Another book on the evils of industrialized food...but a darn good one...

    Agonizing Archetype

Essentially, it’s not about the money tries to help you understand your relationship to money by identifying "The Eight Financial Archetypes."

A Formal Argument for Moral Naturalism

Walter Sinnott-Armstrong believes that he has negated the possibility of moral naturalist being able to overcome academic and pyrrhonian skepticism.  I however show otherwise.

    Lavinia by Ursula K. LeGuin

LeGuin leads us, through the eyes of Lavinia and the Aeneid, to the founding of Rome...

    Glowing Dark

Trying to review Richard Burgin’s work can be daunting. The stories vary widely in content. The characters are complex. And the endings often leave you feeling uneasy. Bottom line, however, this is superb writing.

    Disturbingly Sympathetic

Ken Scott’s book is well worth the read. While the main character is not traditionally sympathetic, there is no doubt about the origins of his sexually charged, murderous arrogance and cold-heartedness.
